Asked why
the team is called K2 the founding partners refer to the eponymous
mountain. "It's not quite as high as Everest, but much harder
to climb," they say. "Everest is now "tourism", while K2
remains the toughest challenge."
The team
confronts the toughest challenges, and with organisation,
innovation and vision aims to reach the peaks.
Even the
most cursory glance at the team's activities will confirm a
commitment to excellence. A detailed examination of the way
K2 goes about its business reveals a painstaking attention to every
detail. From research into materials and component specifications,
to the design of workshop areas and detailed preparation of
racecars, the whole endeavour shouts quality.
From its
first season's racing, K2 put down a marker that it was a force to
be reckoned with. Achieving four pole positions and a lap record
against seasoned opposition.
Graduating
to the Radical Pro Sport Enduro series in 2001, K2 consistently
matched and frequently beat the factory teams. Five podium finishes
and an outright win at the Nurburgring in Germany secured third
place in the Championship. K2 engineered cars for several customers
the following year but entered its own team car in the Brands Hatch
2 Hour endurance event, winning the race and lapping the entire
field.
Securing
commercial sponsorship allowed K2 to build a Pilbeam sports-racing
car, and a move into the Le Mans Endurance Series saw the team
compete at an international level in one of the most professional
and competitive disciplines in modern motor sport
As committed
"racers" the team are preparing and running cars for customers in
different championships throughout Europe.
Various
motorsport engineering projects are currently underway in the
workshop, and we are now able to extend our expertise and attention
to detail to local businesses and private individuals who would
like to receive a professional, trouble free quality
service.
